Some Advice and Tips

I saw @fitgirlkel_bbg post this on instagram and thought it was a great idea! I would have loved to receive some kind of advice when I first started BBG 6 months ago.

This advice is meant for ANYONE starting their Fitness or Weightloss Journey.

✳️TAKE PROGRESS PICTURES!! 📷

Every time a friend of mine starts bbg I tell them to take pictures of their bodies, and many of them say they “forgot to take the picture” or “accidentally deleted it” and it sucks because you’ll never know how far you’ve come if you have nothing to compare yourself to! It doesn’t matter if you’re feeling fat and disgusting and bloated or whatever! PICTURES ARE A MUST! Also, take as many as you can, with different outfits and different angles. Take pics of your belly, your butt, your arms, your back, everything! Trust me you won’t regret it.

✳️Don’t judge your progress by a number on a scale🚫

Yes, it’s important to weigh yourself when you first start your fitness journey in order to have it as a reference but you don’t need to weigh yourself everyday! It can be very discouraging, considering how much our bodies change everyday. Compare pics and be happy with your progress no matter how small! The number on the scale doesn’t matter 🙅, the way you feel does 💁

✳️ Make a fitness/bbg instagram! 📱

When I did BBG for the first time, I did not have this instagram. I decided to make one for my second time and it was WORTH IT. Connecting with other people who are on the same journey as you is a big motivation. People will actually be interested in what you have to say, what you’re eating, what your progress looks like, etc.! The BBG community is full of loving women who will continuously lift you up and motivate you!

✳️Convince some friends to start this with you 👭

It was easy for me to stick to BBG because I had half of my group of friends doing BBG (and eating healthy) with me! I go to friends’ houses and we cook amazing healthy lunches, I go for LISS walks or trekking with some friends and their dogs, etc. It’s great to have someone to talk to about this. Starting a fitness journey is hard if you don’t have the support of your friends/family/partner. The more people you get on the healthy bandwagon, the easier it will be 😁❤️

✳️ Don’t be too hard on yourself 👊

Somedays it’ll be impossible for you to workout or eat healthy but that’s ok! If you have a cheat meal it’s not the end of the world! You’re only human. Just don’t give up. Keep going and TRUST THE PROCESS. You’re not going to gain all your weight back if you have one cheat meal, but you WILL have to bust your butt daily in order to achieve your goals.

✳️Listen to your body 💕

If you feel tired, rest! Don’t overwork yourself. Yes, you should push yourself to hopefully workout 6 times a week. But when your rest day comes along, take advantage of it! Rest!

✳️Eat Healthy 🍍🍉🍑🍅🍏🍌

This is probably the hardest thing to do when you’re first starting. You’ll probably crave junk food and sugary drinks and alcohol. But if you truly want to make a change, it all starts in the kitchen. Eating healthy does NOT have to be boring. I have fallen in love with eating healthy. The way it makes you feel is.. Amazing. Eating healthy foods gives you so much energy! I would not have been able to finish BBG without a healthy lifestyle.

✳️Drink Less Alcohol. Or don’t drink at all! 🍺🍷🍹🍸

For some of us it’s hard (believe me, this is one of my biggest struggles). You have to start by eliminating alcohol like Rum, Whisky, Vodka, Pisco, etc from your diet. Not only are those bad for you, you usually drink them with sugary drinks AND they give you massive hangovers. Try drinking beer, wine or champagne. Obviously don’t drink too much, but if you’re needing a drink, go for these drinks! Also plan in advance, if you know you’re going to be drinking one night, then bring your wine! Don’t leave things up to chance, because you’ll end up losing. Which reminds me:

✳️Plan your Cheat Meals in advance 🍕🍴

If you know you’re having a dinner or a party on Friday Night, then eat healthy all week and allow yourself that one cheat meal on Friday! DON’T TURN YOUR CHEAT MEAL INTO A CHEAT WEEKEND! One cheat meal a week is enough. I have many more treats now, but that’s because I already lost a lot of weight and I found what works for me. But if you’re starting your weightloss/fitness journey, eating a treat everyday will get you nowhere! Be strict with yourself and you’ll see many more results. Also! If you’re going to have a cheat meal, don’t go overboard!! Sure, have a piece of pizza, but don’t eat the whole box!!

✳️Don’t compare your body to other people’s bodies!

EVERYBODY (EVERY BODY) is different 👩👸👧👵

Learn to love yours. It may have taken me two weeks to see a specific change in my body, and it might take you four weeks. Don’t expect immediate results, and don’t expect your abs to show on your second week. I’ve done BBG twice and I still have trouble locating my abs 😂

THE ONLY PERSON YOU SHOULD BE COMPARING YOURSELF TO, IS THE PERSON YOU WERE YESTERDAY.

❤️Try to make the person you are today the healthiest version of yourself possible 🙌

I Hope all of this has been somewhat helpful and if you have any questions, don’t be afraid to ask! That’s what i’m here for 😊😘❤️

  1. I have a really hard time when it comes to eating healthy. I love fruits and vegetables, but I also love rice (white rice). I live with my parents and they do not really like to eat healthy, and they do not support me as much as I would like to, so I do not really have a choice when it comes to eating healthy. What should I do?

    1. Hi Barbara! I used to be in looove with white rice. I seriously ate it everyday. I replaced it with brown rice and now I’m in love with it! haha You just need to do the transition slowly, maybe buy a bag of brown rice and cook it, give some to your mom and maybe suggest she buys this too? That’s what I did with my mom when I first started. Good luck!
