One of my favorite healthy spots here in Santiago is Aldea Nativa.
This cafe/shop is an extension of the online shop Loving Life. The loving life store sells organic products, and the owners have a youtube channel in which they show their viewers different recipes and tips. My friend has followed this channel for a while, so when they opened up their shop/cafe, we obviously had to go give it a try!
The first thing you notice when you walk into this cute house is the store in the middle of it.
Living in Santiago, finding healthy products isn’t always easy. It’s not like in the States, where you just go to trader joe’s or whole foods when you want that one specific product. You can even find many of those healthy products in Target!
Here in Santiago, you have to know your way around in order to find those specific things. So walking into this store is basically heaven. Anything you’ve been craving, they’ve got it! Dates, cacao butter, almond butter, peanut butter, ghee butter (any kind of butter you want really haha), chocolate chip quinoa cookies, the list goes on. I seriously can’t walk into that store without buying one (or five) things for my pantry.
Then you continue walking and there’s a seated section, which is the “Cafeteria”. The menu has so many delicious options!
The first time I went, I ordered a tofu sandwich.
This was my first time trying tofu and I loved it! The second time I went, I tried out the menu of the day. This menu included:
carrot and ginger cream (made with almond milk), quinoa and beef stroganoff, mix of green leaves with zucchini and yellow bell peppers, blackberry juice with no sugar, and a healthy panna cotta with orange sauce for dessert. Needless to say, this meal was really filling and delicious!
I love this place and I recommend it to anyone in Santiago looking for vegetarian, healthy options (there’s non-vegetarian options too).
